On Sunday April 29th, 2012, there gathered at the Community Church, Glen Rock a group of 20 alumni of the legendary Hawthorne Muchachos with the purpose to form a foundation to promote and to foster the fundamental principals of drum corps.

The initial steps to create the Muchachos Foundation have gone into motion with a board of Trustees and corporate officers selected by the assembly in Glen Rock.

The foundation has filed papers to incorporate in the State of New Jersey and will pursue the status of a Not for profit as defined and governed for all 501C3 corporations and organizations.
A scholarship fund has been established and it was agreed that 25% of all donations, contributions, gifts and fund raisers will be dedicated to the scholarship fund.

The purpose of this organization will also provide any alumni the opportunity to perform once again as a Muchacho.  The trustees shared that this will be a major undertaking that is not unrealistic but will come with sacrifice and a large time commitment.

The Trustees also made it very clear that we can not and will not resurrect what was the Hawthorne Muchachos but in fact we have chosen to honor the legacy that we all were part of by establishing this foundation and promoting Drum Corps.

Anyone who was a member of the corps or affiliated in any way inclusive of parents and family clubs has been encouraged to participate.  Recognizing that the Hawthorne Muchachos did not exist as an island on its own, and the dues paying members were just one part of a multifaceted organization that was rich in spirit and blessed with many talented people.   It took many hands to field the Hawthorne Muchachos.

We say with one voice, “WATCH WHAT HAPPENS”.

Since that time, the Drum Corps Committee of the Foundation has ventured out independently.  An Execuitive Board was formed and Mike Durborrow, an alumni of the corps, was named Show Coordinator.  Paul Reale, another former corps member accepted the Board's invitation to be the Execuitive Officer in charge of the daily business of the corps.

A staff has been assembled including Lee Romano as music arranger, Kent Pennell as music director/instructor assisted by Curt Hawkins. Drum Instructor is Frank Nash and Color Guard instructor Ann Durborow.

Open House was held on November 10, 2013. Additional rehearsals are scheduled.
